Primary schools learn the fundamentals of agriculture

Sedimosang Primary and Seatile Primary Schools received substantial education from the Department of Working On Fire about agriculture.

Working on Fire (WoF) and Rand West City Emergency Services held an insightful outreach programme at Sedimosang Primary and Seatile Primary Schools where they demonstrated the importance of flora.

Between September 19 and 22, they set out to educate the youth in Mohlakeng and Bekkersdal about the significance of plant cultivation. The foundation phase learners of Sedimosang and Seatile were advised to plant as many seeds to promote services and encourage gardening in schools to eradicate mainstream poverty in the community.

The little ones were emphatically influenced by the outreach. They were all the more encouraged when they were gifted small gardening utensils and seeds to plant, sponsored by the WoF.

“Cultivation is life. The fundamentals of plant life are and will always be of great value to the people. Therefore, we need to emphasise the matter to the children of the future,” said Rand West Emergency Services Fire Chief Benny Mohlabeng.

WoF has reinforced awareness and certainly revitalised the importance of cultivation. Not only are they planting seeds in the earth, but they are also planting seeds in the hearts of the youth.
