‘Bring back our CVs’ – job applicants furious with municipality

Scores of hopeful job seekers have been left disappointed and frustrated as they were hoping to at least be called in for job interviews, this was not the case.

Residents who applied for jobs at the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) should not wait with bated breath to be called for interviews as the municipality has recently announced that it is withdrawing the advertised vacant posts.

Information regarding this made the rounds on social media as of September 26 and was confirmed by RWCLM spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa.

The notice was posted on Facebook and reads as follows.

“The municipality notifies all applicants that responded to the advertisement on August 29 of the withdrawal of the advertisement. The withdrawal is necessitated by a change in circumstances beyond the control of the municipality.”

People responded to the municipality’s post in backlash with one of them saying he wants his CV back.

According to Noluthando Thala on Facebook, she expected this to happen.

“I thought as much. Even with the first ones [job adverts], they did the same thing and you will find that they are going to hire their relatives. The municipality is a joke and when elections come, we have to vote. People have spent money to make copies and this is the thanks they get instead of being invited for interviews,” said Thala.

Mack Gëë Morakabe added, “This is why the ANC must be voted out but I guess it’s rocket science to some of us. Your level of incompetence is sickening to the core. Next time, just deploy your cadres and don’t advertise posts ’cause we all know that there are no circumstances that are beyond the control of the municipality.”

Another user, Msizi Umsholozi submitted his comment and simply said ‘bring back our CVs’.
