RandWest SPCA raises funds at Tambotie

Their Westonaria branch is about 56 years old and the kennels are dilapidated. They will need about R500 000 to have them in a good state.

The RandWest SPCA was out and about on Spring Day and hosted their fundraising event which proved to be a success.

This was on September 2 at Tambotie Mall in Randfontein and at My Choice Pharmacy in Randgate, where people affiliated with the organisation stood at entrance points speaking about their cause.

This yielded some results, as they received donations which will go towards assisting in them carrying out their mandate, especially with fixing dilapidated infrastructure for their animals.

RandWest SPCA chairperson Brenda Eloff said they are thankful for the support that they received on the day.

“The whole purpose of the fundraising event was to raise funds that will go towards the upkeep and revamping of our dilapidated infrastructure, particularly in Westonaria. We established that the Westonaria branch is about 56 years old and the kennels are dilapidated. We’ve carried out assessments which indicate that we will need at least R500 000 to have them in good shape.

While it will take us a long time to raise that kind of money, we have decided to tackle each kennel with the little money that we get, until we get to a point where they are all in good condition,” said Eloff.

She added that the kennels at the Randfontein Branch are also in bad condition and also need some attention but will not take much priority for now.

“We are also thankful to the Rand West community and to the Tambotie mall management, as well as people from my choice pharmacy for their help. As it stands, the organisation is in a better position than before,” said Eloff.
