Planned power outage confirmed across town
Several areas in Rand West City have been hit by a planned power interruption which lasts until at least 16:30 on Thursday. This is due to repair work.
Residents from different parts of Rand West City have been hit by power interruptions which will leave them without electricity for hours on August 31.
According to Rand West City Local Municipality spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, the planned power cuts started at 8:30 and will last until 16:30.
Areas affected are Aureus extension 1, a portion of Randfontein from 1st Street to 6th Street, Oasis, Orion, a portion of Westergloor, Cici Centre, Nola, Aranda, Finsbury Ten Acres, Middelvlei, Kocksoord, Peacehaven and Silos in Middelvlei.
“The planned power cuts are necessary for the relevant team to carry out repair work at the Randfontein Munic substation. Eskom will switch off their section as well.
“Please note the duration of the repairs is anticipated. During this time, the surrounding areas may experience intermittent power interruptions and it is therefore of utmost importance that the community in the area take necessary measures to conserve energy to maintain a stable and reliable supply,” said Montshiwa, who added that they apologise for the inconvenience caused.
