#Women’sDay: What it’s all about … according to FJL Wells Primary Mine School

FJL Wells Primary Mine School learners spoke highly of the women in their lives ahead of Women's Day.

Although learners in some lower grades in primary school are exposed to little to no information regarding the concept behind Women’s Day, they appear to understand that it is about celebrating women.

This was evident when the Randfontein Herald visited FJL Wells Primary Mine School and spoke to learners about what they think Women’s Day is all about.

Although reference was drawn to Mother’s Day, the grade two and three learners were able to say that the day is about celebrating women in their lives.

They seemed not to know much about the historic day but that’s understandable considering their age.

According to eight-year-old Mohau Tshabalala, Women’s Day is about appreciating all the women in the world and hopes that his mother will be happy on the day.

“I know my mother will be happy on Women’s Day and I look up to her because she is strong and beautiful,” said Tshabalala.

Mohau Tshabalala said Women’s Day is about appreciating all the women in the world and hopes that his mother will be happy on the day.

Another learner Kgothatso Moretlwe said she thinks Women’s Day is about celebrating her mother and all women in her life who are strong in their character.

She said she will buy them sweets on the day to show them appreciation.

Kgothatso Moretlwe says Women’s Day is about celebrating all the women who are strong in character.

Meanwhile, Noxolo Mdingaswe on the other hand said she thinks Women’s Day is the same as Mother’s Day.

She highlighted that she will be celebrating her mother because she is strong and independent and that she takes care of the entire family and makes them good food.

Noxolo Mdingaswe believes that Women’s Day is the same as Mother’s Day.
