Rand West City Local Municipality has its hands full and is battling with the high increase of recurring sewer blockages in different communities within its jurisdiction.
According to the municipality’s spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, this is the highest number of incidents experienced in years.
“The municipality has a specialised fleet deployed across all our areas to respond to the increased incidents. We are in the process of securing additional machinery to deploy in response to the need. A schedule of prioritised areas will be circulated on the website and community social media groups and community members can also notify the municipality of blockages on the WhatsApp number 0670129700 or 010 496 5555,” said Montshiwa.
He added that they apologise for the inconvenience caused and are applauding community members for their patience.
“Attempts to address the issue will continue,” he said.
