SPCA receives heart-warming donation

The donation is in the form of animal food, dog leases, and animal treats.

The community is hearing the plight of the RandWest SPCA with a big donation of food made recently. This will now go a long way toward assisting the animals in their care.

The Quinton van der Burgh Foundation donated animal food and treats to the RandWest SPCA’s offices in Randfontein last week, July 21.

The Randfontein Herald spoke to RandWest SPCA manager Naomi de Beer who said that she was thrilled to have received the items.

Explaining how the donation came about, Naomi said, “I was on Facebook when a woman by the name of Terize Kotze asked where they could buy animal food at a cheaper rate because they are supporting the SPCA. I then commented and also thanked her for what she has been doing, as we are dependent on public support. The next day, she gave me a call and said they are putting something together for us with the Quinton van der Burgh Foundation. That was so heart-warming for me.”

The SPCA and Naomi are thankful to those who are constantly making a difference in the lives of the animals in their care.

“Such donations are truly heart-warming for us. Some days are really hard and we want to give up but we look at the animals and think to ourselves: ‘If we give up, who’s going to help them?’ It is our love for the animals that motivates us to carry on,” said Naomi.

She concluded the donation should last them about two to three weeks, depending on the number of animals.
