Police dispose of illegal booze

More than 100 law enforcement members and workers took part in the disposal of alcohol that was sold illegally across the West Rand District.

The Krugersdorp police along with other law enforcement sent a clear message to the public regarding the selling of illegal liquor by disposing of almost 200 bottles of liquor earlier this week.

On July 19, more than 100 law enforcement members and workers were present and took part in the destruction of alcohol that was sold illegally across the West Rand. Among the stakeholders were the Krugersdorp Police Department, Crime Prevention Wardens, and various sectors of the Community Policing Forum.

Major General Fred Kekana addresses the stakeholders of the operation.

Major General Fred Kekana in his address highlighted the importance of crime operations that took place throughout the municipality as well the success of these operations.

”We have confiscated more than 1 000 bottles of liquor which are about two million milliliters of alcohol,” Kekana said.

Kekana added that the destruction of the illegal liquor will send a message to liquor outlets that should they operate without a liquor license, it will be costly to their business.

“Not only will they lose out on money made from sales but they will also be fined heavily for not abiding by the law or face three months behind bars.”
