Parts of Rand West City still waterless

Rand Water's maintenance is completed, yet many parts of Rand West City are still without water.

Some parts of Randfontein and Westonaria are still without water and residents are urged to continue exercising patience where this is concerned.

According to Rand West City Local Municipality spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, the water system is still not operating at full capacity. This comes after Rand Water announced a massive water shutdown last week due to the maintenance work carried out at its pump stations.

Large parts of the province were left without water due to the shutdown, where people were seen scrambling around to fill up on the precious resource.

According to Montshiwa, they are working around the clock to ensure that residents have water once again.

“Please note that after Rand Water’s shutdown, their water supply system is not operating at full capacity. In light of this, some of our reservoirs are not yet operating at full capacity but we are working to restore these reservoirs to their optimal capacity as soon as possible. We will continue to provide water with tankers.

“In the meantime, we urge people to conserve water in their daily lives and to be mindful of their water usage, and we thank residents for your patience and understanding,” said Montshiwa, who added that the municipality apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

The following reservoirs are affected:

• Greenhills
• Westergloor
• Finsbury
• Badirile
• Westonaria
• Hillshaven
