Brace yourselves: Municipality warns of planned power outage on July 21
Municipality announces 9-hour planned power outage in large parts of Rand West City on Friday.
Residents in some parts of Rand West City are urged to prepare themselves for a planned power outage that will be implemented on Friday, July 21.
This will be from 08:00 to 17:00 when the municipality will replace the damaged incomer breakers at the Drowel substation.
Rand West City Local Municipality spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa said the following areas will be affected:
• Greenhills Ext 3 and 5
• Randgate
• Village Square Mall
• Randpoort
• Wilbotsdal
• Botha plots
• Elandsvlei
• Loumarina
• Ooster plots
• Wheatlands
• Dan Thloome
• Afri Village
“Electricity will be disconnected for at least nine hours. The municipal electricians are therefore no longer required to reduce the internal load at the Drowel substation, except for Loumarina. Our team is working diligently to ensure that the process goes as smoothly and quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will work to minimise downtime whenever possible.”
