Palm Estate employees donate blood for Mandela Day

This comes after the blood service indicated that it was facing low blood stock levels and reached out to South Africans to lend a hand in saving lives.

Employees from Palm Estate in Randfontein responded to the call for the donation of blood by the SANBS and went out in their numbers, to donate blood and try to save lives.

This comes after the blood service indicated that it was facing low blood stock levels and reached out to South Africans to lend a hand in saving lives.

Ansie Fourie who is a first-time donor said she was happy to donate blood and knows that her efforts will be meaningful to those in need. Just weeks ago, the blood service’s Siemi Prithvi-Raj said they were in the midst of a bloodstock crisis as levels continue to drop consistently.

Ansie Fourie from Palm Estates in Randfontein, together with Ntwanano Mpangane who is a relief donor care officer at SANBS.

Prithvi-Raj said that the frigid weather has affected the levels of donation hence they are still calling on all those who are willing and able, to donate a unit of blood.

“We decided as a team to come out to the SANBS blood drive at Tambotie Mall because we wanted to do something good for Mandela Day. We are hoping that our efforts will go a long way in helping those who need the blood and we hope that we save lives,” said Fourie.

She added that this is something that she and her team will be doing continuously, as a way of giving back.
