Approximately 120 people in Toekomsrus were given a hot cup of soup and bread to keep warm during a winter drive by the Myburgh Foundation.

The Myburgh Foundation spared a thought for others in this cold weather and embarked on a winter drive.

This was on July 13 where they provided a hot cup of soup and bread to approximately 120 people in Toekomsrus.

According to the head of child and youth care at the foundation, Cindy Haywood-Christian, the kind gesture was in partnership with Shoprite and the Social Crime Prevention Unit of Randfontein SAPS.

“We wanted to do something nice for the children and the youth, in this cold weather and we thought a hot cup of soup and bread would keep them warm and full for the day. As an official stakeholder with SAPS, we also wanted to reach out to them, as we are committed to bringing about positive social change within Rand West City.

“We believe that strong partnerships will most definitely yield positive social change,” said Haywood-Christiaan.

She added that their foundation is thankful for the partnership with the Randfontein Police in their fight against social ills, which are common in Toekomsrus.
