Be patient – municipality to the public as water levels are slowly but surely returning

Although the Westergloor and Greenhills reservoirs are at nine and 11 % respectively, the Rand West City Local Municipality confirmed Rand Water's water pressure is picking up but asked for patience.

Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) is requesting patience from the public as the water supply is increasing in several parts of Randfontein and Westonaria.

This comes after Rand Water recently completed its maintenance work at Eikenhof pump station after leaving scores of residents and businesses in different parts of the province with low water pressure, or no water at all.

RWCLM spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa released a statement over the weekend which stated the municipality is pleading with communities, that still lack water, to be patient.

“The Westergloor reservoir is at nine percent and the Greenhills reservoir is at 11 percent. The levels are rising steadily, and Rand Water’s water pressure is picking up. Once the levels reach a threshold of 20 percent, the water pumps will start and the water supply to high-lying areas will be restored. Low-lying areas are receiving a low-pressure water supply. We plead with communities who still lack water to be patient and we will continue to monitor the levels of the reservoirs to ensure that the water supply is sustained and restored. We thank the communities for their patience and understanding and apologise for the inconvenience caused,” said Montshiwa in the statement.
