58-Hour water shutdown will affect parts of Mogale City

Residents of Mogale City and Rand West will need to be prepared for low to no water pressure while Rand Water does maintenance.

A 58-hour water outage is planned for next week, although initially thought that it may only affect the Roodepoort area, there is a chance that some areas of Mogale City will also be affected.

A statement from Rand Water explained that the planned maintenance is to tie in two valves. This will be done to replace multiple valves at the Vereeniging Water Treatment Plant, Eikenhof Boosted Pump Station and Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant. The last part will be for electrical work at the Lethabo Pumping Station.

“This project forms part of Rand Water’s maintenance strategy that focuses on proactive refurbishment and upgrading of its infrastructure to ensure future sustainability.”

The planned outage will start on Tuesday, July 11 at 19:00 and will last until Friday, July 14 at 05:00. Residents from Rustenburg Local Municipality, Mogale City Local Municipality, and Rand West Local Municipality will experience intermittent water supply.

“We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused by the implementation of this maintenance project, however, planned maintenance on Rand Water’s infrastructure is necessary to ensure future sustainable supply of water to our customers. We urge all consumers to continue using water sparingly.”
