The provincial communication officer for WoF, Parapara Makgahlela said this was an opportunity to give hope to the hopeless and the unemployed youth in the area.

Parapara said that the 30-year-old Nthabiseng Mokoena was one of the young people who partook in the recruitment drive and this has given her a radiance of hope for employment. She has been looking for employment for the past seven years without any success.

There are no employment opportunities in the township and the city. Even if I’m not hired, some will be. I wish to be hired but the contest was tight and tough. May the best candidates get employed,’’ said Nthabiseng.

Acting regional manager for the base, Sipho Dhladhla said the response of the people was positive.

‘‘Our recruitment process is the most transparent because everybody can see who did well.”

We are in the fire season and we urge landowners to work closely with fire authorities. Our team is on standby as we speak now,” he concluded.
