DA Ward 7 councillor Craig Harrison said the drive was held at Pick n Pay Helikon Park to collect cat and dog food for the shelter as well as toys and blankets for the animals.

As a committee, we decided to do a trolley drive for this non-profit organisation to assist them,” said Craig.

During the day they collected over 300kg of dog food, approximately 100kg of cat food, tinned food, toys and blankets.

Owner and founder of the sanctuary, Louisa Rossouw said that this was one of the most wonderful gestures organised by the DA, and they appreciate every donation that was collected by the DA.

“We were on the last drop of our dog food and were on our knees as we were struggling to collect food,” said Louisa.

She added that they have been blessed with the support and it was an amazing donation that can keep them going again and take some stress off of them.

I also want to tell the public to support the people and businesses that support us, it makes life so much better.”

Craig wants to thank all the residents of Ward 7 and the community of Randfontein for the donations as well as Pick n Pay Helikon Park, Khuphukani Mining and Trocana Mining equipment Aureus.
