Fourteen children injured in bakkie-taxi collision

'Medics assessed the children aged between four and 16 and found they had sustained minor to moderate injuries' – ER24 spokesperson.

Fourteen children were injured when a bakkie and taxi collided at the Ada Kaolin intersection in Carletonville on the far West Rand on Friday morning, May 12.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said their paramedics and other services arrived on the scene at 07:01 to find the taxi on its side in the road with the bakkie parked a short distance away. Several children were seen climbing out of the taxi.

“Medics assessed the children aged between four and 16 and found they had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately, no serious injuries or fatalities were found.”

Russel added that the children were treated and later transported to a nearby hospital for further care.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
