Induction session held for CPF in Westonaria

The Director of the Department of Community Safety Calvin Ngwenya spoke about the core functions of the CPF and urged members to read their code of conduct and adhere to discipline and ethics when carrying out their duties.

The Bekkersdal Police together with the Westonaria Police and other relevant stakeholders held a Community Policing Forum (CPF) Induction recently.

This was at the Banquet Hall in Westonaria where the top six executive structures were present, as well as representatives from the Department of Community Safety.

Westonaria Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Audrey Sefara said engagements on the day were fruitful.

“The top six CPF members, together with police officers from Bekkersdal, Randfontein, and Westonaria policing precincts were present at the induction session which was conducted by the Director from the Department of Community Safety Calvin Ngwenya.

“He spoke about the concept of community policing, as well as the purpose and roles, as well as responsibilities. He also unpacked the core functions of all sub-structures and the multi-agencies where they have to work with other stakeholders,” said Sefara who added that CPF members were also urged to read their code of conduct and adhere to discipline and ethics when carrying out their duties.

Bekkersdal Police Station Commander Colonel Phumelele Matamela was also present at the event and thanked all attendees for their time and contribution at the meeting.

She said that she is adamant that the forces will continue working together in combatting crime and urged them to recruit more members but only those without criminal records.
