Resident loses battle against cancer

Bernadette Guthri has died after a battle with cancer. The 37-year-old leaves behind her husband and three children.

Resident Bernadette Guthrie has passed away and a silent cremation memorial was held for her at the Maranata Church in Middelvlei last Friday, March 24.

This comes after losing her battle with stage 4 breast cancer on March 14. She resided in Hillside, Randfontein.

The memorial was attended by close friends and family. The 37-year-old leaves behind her husband and three children aged 15, 7, and 5.

The Herald was able to follow her journey previously and spoke about how she was a positive person throughout the difficult times.

She also had the support from locals who would host fundraising events to help pay for her bills, as she was in and out of the hospital frequently.
