Westonaria Police spokesperson Sergeant Audrey Sefara said they also visited the school to establish a working relationship with the 800 learners from Grade 1 to Grade 5

Apart from ensuring our visibility at the school and addressing the criminal element, our offices in senior management also addressed learners on the dangers of carrying dangerous weapons such as knives and toy guns to school as others might assume the worst.

“They also tackled the issue of bullying and discipline. One of our hostage negotiators in the SAPS also gave a brief description of her job and encouraged learners to be careful and vigilant and not to speak to strangers as they can end up being victims of human trafficking,” said Sefara.
