“The joining of Mrs South Africa was sparked by an ordeal that I went through last year where I never saw myself as good enough or even beautiful. This, however, has always been my grandmother’s wish and when I came so close to losing her last year November, I knew I had to make it happen. I then said to a friend of mine to alert me as soon as the entries open in January and that’s how I got to enter.

“I honestly hesitated from the onset because I didn’t even have a proper photo of myself to submit on the entry form,” said Monique, who added that this is a dream come true for her.

Meanwhile, shortly after the announcement of those who made it to the semi-finals, the contestants took part in a jam-packed two-day conference filled with motivational talks, workshops, upskilling sessions, socialising and networking opportunities, and an introduction to the famous Mrs SA sisterhood.

“There’s so much that we can do through this for our communities, and we can build and empower. I’m not just focused on women. I’ve got a big thing for gangsterism in Toekomsrus that I’m trying to fight. I also want youngsters to see their potential at a young age and that’s what I’m all about,” said Losper.

Meanwhile, Joani Johnson, CEO of Mrs SA said, “We are proud to work alongside so many strong, formidable, and inspirational married women and to empower them through our pillars of community, self-development, and networking to be the leaders and social game-changers that we need in this country. Our experienced mentors teach leadership, entrepreneurship, marketing, self-promotion, and self-discovery throughout the year to ensure that all participants have a truly life-changing experience,” said Joani, who added that they are blown away by the number of high-quality entries that they received this year.

She also added that the National Casting day was exceptionally difficult, as a substantial number of entrants have what it takes to make a success of this programme.
