Palesa Ramuchela is Westonaria High School's top achiever and bagged six distinctions.

With six distinctions behind her name, Palesa Ramuchela is Westonaria High School’s top achiever.

The school’s top matric learner for the class of 2022 spoke to the Herald in an interview and confirmed that she managed a distinction in Mathematics, Life Sciences, Life Orientation, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Graphics and Design and Afrikaans as a first additional language.

“Achieving these distinctions makes me feel ecstatic and humbled to say the least. It is a blessing to know that I am part of the few selected as a top achiever and I’m basically just excited and very grateful.”

With these results, Palesa has been given the amazing opportunity to study at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits).

“I will be studying Mechanical Engineering,” said Palesa proudly.

Asked about her matric exams, Palesa said, “Although anxious I was excited at the same time. I just knew that everything was going to go well as I had prepared myself well before for the end-year exams. I prepared by studying hard and sticking to a time schedule.”

According to Palesa, she started to study early and pushed herself to the limit at times.

“I am so thankful for my family’s support, I couldn’t do it without them.”
