Bag of ammunition found on side of the road in Greenhills

Mapogo A Mathamaga Security released its latest crime report in the Rand West City totalling five serious incidents – one of which included a bag of ammunition being found next to the side of the road in Greenhills.

A Mapogo armed reaction officer was doing random patrols in Greenhills when he noticed a plastic bag on the side of the road containing live ammunition.

It was one of the five serious incidents reported to Mapogo A Mathamaga Security’s client base in the Rand West City for the period Monday, January 16 to Sunday, January 22.

The security company’s operations manager Danie Vermeulen explained the incident took place at 05:55 last Wednesday, January 18.

“Upon further investigation it was established that the bag contained various calibre live ammunition. The scene was secured and handed over to Randfontein Police,” said Vermeulen.

Details about other incidents:

1. Monday, January 16 at 10:00 – Common theft in Lourie Street, Greenhills

A suspect gained entry into premises and went on to break the lock of a Wendy house and stole one lawn mower and one edge trimmer.

2. Wednesday, January 18 at 03:45 – Theft of a motorcycle in Johnson Street, Hectorton

Suspects gained entry into property and forced open the garage door and stole a motorcycle.

3. Wednesday, January 18 at 07:14 – Housebreaking and theft in Langerman Street, Randgate

Suspects gained entry and staff room door open and went on to steal one generator and one television.

4. Thursday, January 19 at 07:02 – Housebreaking and theft in Falcon Street, Greenhills

Suspects gained access and forced open a lock to a store room and went on to steal one generator and five pressure nozzles.
