More than 200 people were arrested for various crimes after police officers from different parts of the West Rand held their famous operation Okae Molao on the R28 near Umphakathi Mall in Mohlakeng on Thursday, January 19.

Sergeant Gloria Maswanganye, West Rand District Police spokesperson, confirmed a total of 210 suspects were arrested.

The 210 suspects in total were arrested for a range of offences including:
• Murder (six)
• Attempted murder (one)
• Armed robbery (four)
• Common robbery (five)
• Assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (52)
• Common assault (eight)
• Assault and domestic violence (10)
• Rape (three)
• Sexual assault (two)
• House robbery (three)
• Hijacking (one)
• Hijacking (one)
• Housebreaking and theft (six)
• Business burglary (three)
• Possession of drugs (four),
• Possession of a hijacked truck (one)
• Armed robbery (one)
• Theft (20)
• Fraud (one)
• Malicious damage to property (23)
• Kidnapping (four)
• Intimidation (four)
• Contravention of protection order (four)
• Use of a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent (one)
• Public indecency (one)
