Three arrested at business gate with alleged stolen loot

Three arrests were made at a tile manufacturer in Aureus as they failed to show any proof of purchase for goods when attempting to leave the premises.

Three people were arrested after they allegedly transported suspected stolen goods in a truck as they were about to leave the premises of a tile manufacturer business in Aureus on Tuesday afternoon, December 6.

The goods included roof tiles and fittings worth an estimated value of R15 000.

The Herald was called out to the scene and upon arrival, the suspects were already being taken away by the police as they allegedly failed to show any proof of purchase.

Bobby Laubscher, General Manager of the tile manufacturer business, Rooftile West Rand, added more people are expected to be arrested in connection with the alleged theft.

“Information received and follow up investigations led to the arrest of three people at the gate of our premises. This is after they tried leaving with stolen tiles and fittings which were loaded but not paid for. No paperwork was even in the truck as per standard procedure when collecting or dispatching goods. The police were called and the three suspects were then taken into custody,” Laubscher confirmed.

Police officers together with other stakeholders assessing the value of the goods alleged to have been stolen.
