Kids taken on first library tour

It was a day of storytelling, colouring-in activities and building blocks when the Rand West City library welcomed kids of the Horeb Kidz Care Centre in the CBD.

The Rand West City library recently hosted a library orientation for children of the Horeb Kidz Care Centre, an Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre in the Randfontein CBD.

Librarian Thandeka Legae said the main purpose of the orientation was to expose children to the library environment.

“The children were invited in order to introduce them to a library at a very young age. This was also to spread the word of what we do in libraries and to also inform them and their educators about the importance of libraries in our communities,” Legae said.

She added orientation was organised by library assistant Michelle Devadasan with the assistance from colleagues from the Rand West City library.

Those present were also given a library tour and entertained through storytelling, colouring-in activities and building blocks.

At the end of the programme, each child was given a party pack.
