The Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) will be in the West Rand to launch the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign at the Westonaria Banquet Hall on Friday, November 25.

The campaign runs annually from November 25 till December 10.

According to a statement released by the office of the Speaker in the GPL, those who will be attending are urged to pledge their support by wearing a white ribbon for the duration of the 16 days campaign. This will be to symbolise peace and harmony.

“We wish to spend the day with the community from the West Rand and handover gifts to 350 beneficiaries. This will be followed by a candle-lighting ceremony where messages of support will be shared,” read the statement.

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign (16 Days Campaign) is a United Nations campaign which takes place annually from 25 November (International Day of No Violence against Women) to 10 December (International Human Rights Day).
