Lenmed Randfontein celebrates preemies

The hospital recently hosted their annual World Prematurity Day to support and celebrate mothers and their premature babies.

Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital recently celebrated premature babies (preemies) during their World Prematurity Day that was held on Thursday, November 17.

Organiser of the event Tsholofelo Radebe said they held the event to celebrate, commemorate and support all the mothers who had preemie babies and to educate because it’s very stressful to go through having a preemie baby.

Some lovely snacks were available.

“It was also held to have a sense of community, to realise that you aren’t the only one, there are other mothers who have gone through this journey. We encourage the mothers to bring their babies so you can see that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel,” said Tsholofelo.

During the day there were a couple of speakers and they also had a talk from their paediatrician and neontologist Dr Claude Ondongo and the unit manager of the NICU Sister Agnes Nyamande addressed some concerns that the parents might have because she works with these babies daily and understands the parents’ anxiety and fears.

Tsholofelo added that the floor was also opened to mothers who went through the journey to give hope to other mothers.
