Mayor intensifies service delivery efforts

She took to the streets of Simunye in Westonaria and re-painted road markings in the area and cleaned up the place.

Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) Executive Mayor Gladys Khoza has started to intensify service delivery efforts by repainting road markings in Simunye, Westonaria as well as cleaning up the area.

This was on October 28 and was aimed at ensuring visibility of road signs in the area and increase road safety, as well as ensuring a clean environment for residents.

This effort roped in different Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) who also had to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty.

Khoza said this is part of the ongoing Ntirhisano Service Delivery Fridays which kick started on July 18.

“We are happy to be continuing with our efforts of being hands on in the different communities and carrying out the maintenance of roads and municipal infrastructure in the 35 wards. The project comprises of repairing potholes, painting road markings at stop signs, cleaning storm water channels and fixing high mast lights. We will continue to target different areas and ensure that service delivery is a reality for our people,” said Khoza.

Community members came out in their numbers to participate and engage with Khoza regarding issues of looking after their own community infrastructure.

They suggested ways of maintaining the infrastructure fixed on the day and committed themselves to monitor and prevent further illegal dumping in public spaces.
