Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital recently held a Breast Cancer Awareness Open Day.

Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital recently welcomed women with open arms for a Breast Cancer Awareness Open Day on Saturday, October 29.

Lenmed spokesperson Ofentse Pharumele said the day began with free health screenings by Lancet laboratories where they screened for blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol. They also went to do breast examinations and afterwards got ushered to the new chemotherapy unit where they received free consultations from medical oncologist Dr Dineo Tshabalala and specialist surgeon Dr Tanwir Jaffer.

She added that the attendees also got a special treat from Notha Relaxes that gave free neck and shoulder massages and goodie bags from various sponsors.

“October is breast cancer awareness month and as a community hospital this was a way to give back and create awareness on the importance of looking after yourself and being able to self-examine in order to be able to pick up any abnormalities in and around the breast.”

Ofentse explained the event was quite successful and 82 people attended the event for screenings and free consultations.

“Our mission as a healthcare group is to build healthier and prosperous communities, we have been hosting such events and will definitely do so in future.”
