Residents give animal shelter much-needed support

A fundraiser recently brought much-needed financial relief for Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary.

Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary hosted a successful fundraising event aimed at giving dogs and cats a fighting chance.

This was at the Fantasy Farm Yard in Wilbotsdal on Saturday, October 22 where more than 50 people were in attendance to show their support. One had to pay a R30 entry fee while many also opted to present a packet of dog or cat food.

The proceeds made will go towards paying for the upkeep, veterinary bills and food for the dogs and cats alike.

According to Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary director and event organiser Gina van Zyl, they had a beautiful turn out.

The event also boasted a car show and this car famously known as the Green Goblin of the 707 Legends crew made an appearance at the show. Photo: Leilani Ludick from LL Photography.

“We are so thankful to the residents of Randfontein for their support. The money we made on the day will go a long way towards paying for some of the vet bills and has been used to purchase cat and dog food,” said Van Zyl.

She added that she is thankful to Fantasy Farm Yard for offering their venue as well as those who helped in organising the event.
