The weekend’s weather was a wonderful backdrop for the RandWest SPCA’s annual Spring Day fundraiser.
On Saturday, September 3 the SPCA sold delicious boerewors rolls outside Tony’s, and Grizz The Singing Trucker provided entertainment with his wonderful voice. Volunteers also collected money at Tambotie Mall and at the traffic light in Homelake.

RandWest SPCA chairperson Brenda Eloff said the first fundraiser of its kind was last year and they decided to make it an annual event also to celebrate spring. It’s a day filled with fun and laughter for the staff and committee members of the RandWest SPCA.
The reason for the fundraiser is that our kennels are overflowing with surrendered animals, fuel prices are skyrocketing, and people don’t have money anymore to care for their animals.”
The monthly donation of 500kg dog food from Nola no longer lasts a full month and because they only having enough money to cover their monthly expenses, they need to do more fundraisers to be able to take care of the animals’ needs.
The Spring Day fundraiser yielded just over R4 500 for the SPCA.
I want to thank the Randfontein community for their support on Saturday. A big thank you to Tony`s, Tambotie Mall and Grizz The Singing Trucker for your support. Thank you to journalist Michelle Roodt and the Randfontein Herald for your continued support.”
