One of the organisers of the event and organ transplant coordinator Marlize de Jager said the #Orgust-Hospital awareness drive was in commemoration of Organ Donor Month and to create awareness about organ and tissue donation among the public and medical staff at Lenmed Randfontein.
Being an organ donor means being able to save lives by donating organs and tissue. It’s important to become a donor because you can save seven lives and increase the quality of 70 lives.”
According to De Jager any individual can become an organ donor. You need to tell your family and loved ones about your decision and then register on odf.org.za.
“Creating awareness is important. The aim is to save lives both in the private and public sector.”
