Speaking to the Herald, Vice President of CGA Women’s Committee Karabo Mabilo said the aim of the event was to develop a girl child holistically.
We noticed over time that a lot of girls stopped participating in sports, especially between the ages of 14 and 18.
“We’ve tried to get to the bottom of why there’s a gap in sports participation, and that’s why we came up with the hygiene pack and sanitary towel solution – all with the objective to achieve holistic wellness and wanting to develop a girl child, a woman coach and a administrator,” said Mabilo
She added that the packs were made up of items donated by other athletes and club members affiliated to CGA, and the pads were donated by SPAR.
They included sanitary towels, tampons, panty liner, soap, toothbrush, face cloth, shampoo and lotions.
