Local businessman donates 200 food parcels to the needy

"The cost of living is too high and some people cannot afford to put food on the table."

Local business man Nazir Haseen is in the habit of doing good deeds for different communities and has donated 200 food parcels to the needy in Borwa, a newly developed township in Westonaria.

The donations were made in July 29 and included items such bread, eggs, vegetables, mealie meal and non-perishables.

Speaking to the Herald, Haseen said he is passionate about making a difference in the communities around him.

“I work with people every day and I sometimes get to hear about the plight of other people in the area. That has prompted me to make a difference and help where I can with the little I have.

The cost of living is too high and some people cannot afford to put food on the table. I’m always moved by such stories and if I can make a different in someone’s life then I’m happy,” said Haseen.

The area’s ward councillor Amanda Sityebi attested to this and added that he is also a great source of inspiration in the community. She helps Haseen identify those in need within her community and assists in handing out the food parcels.

“My partnership with Haseen started last year and he has been doing great things for our community. He is constantly helping the needy in more ways than one and we are very appreciative,” said Sityebi who added that the donation of food parcels is one of the many good deeds Haseen has done for the community of Borwa.
