Water shortages: Areas currently affected by Rand Water’s maintenance

The municipality confirms which areas are currently affected by the Rand Water maintenance schedule.

The Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) has issued a reminder regarding the Rand Water maintenance, sharing what areas are currently experiencing water shortages.

The municipality has reminded the community that Rand Water is currently conducting scheduled maintenance that is impacting most of the elevated areas.

According to municipal spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, the maintenance will affect different areas supplied by various supply systems, leading to variable impacts on water pressure or complete water unavailability.

“Our reservoir water levels are currently low, and some of them are empty,” Montshiwa claimed.

To alleviate the impact, the municipality has arranged for water tankers to provide water to the affected areas along with a route which the tanker will follow.

The municipality has given an updated list of affected areas.

In the Randfontein region, current affected areas include Mohlakeng, Greenhills, Toekomsrus, Westergloor, Randfontein CBD, Homelake, Culemborgpark Park, Badirile, AFRI village and Dan Tlome.

Current affected areas in Westonaria include Hillshaven, Bergkruin Street, parts of Simunye, and parts of Bekkersdal and Glenharvie.

“We advise residents to store water and use it conservatively during this maintenance period,” Montshiwa said.
