What’s your opinion about Rand Water’s maintenance?

Residents give their opinion about Rand Water's water maintenance.

The Randfontein Herald has approached residents to ask them what they think about the Rand Water maintenance project.

Thabo Ntladi said that he is not necessarily angry about the maintenance. He expressed that he is grateful that they decided to renovate the pumping station.

Alice Mnyali.

However, Alice Mnyali has some strong feelings.

“We are extremely disappointed because some of us are sick and we need to drink medicine daily. How are we going to drink our pills without water? The lack of water is very sad to me. I understand that some people are not paying their fees to Rand Water and we are living in a time with a lot of issues,” Mnyali stated.

Sylvia Motlhaping.

Sylvia Motlhaping said that she is not very happy about the water restrictions. She continued by explaining that they will not be able to wash their clothing, cook food, flush the toilet or drink medicine for the time being.

Gilbert Chilundu.

“I feel that they should do maintenance rather than wait for the problem to become worse. It is very good that they are fixing the problem. Now, we just have to prepare for the shortage and gather enough buckets and bottles of water,” Gilbert Chilundu explained.

Aletta Booysen.

Aletta Booysen said that she is not too bothered about the water shortage or the maintenance, but she would appreciate it if the municipality could also focus on other issues, such as the street lights and rubbish covering the ditch in front of Tambotie Mall.
