RandMark does its part to keep the community clean

After noticing the danger the road over Delmas Bridge poses to them, RandMark cyclists decide to do something about it.

With Delmas Bridge being a regular route for RandMark cyclists, the club noticed the danger it poses to their cyclists and decided to clean it up.

One of the cyclists, Trudie Reid, explained the loose sand next to the pavement became a threat as they had to cross into the traffic lane. This put them in danger of being hit by oncoming traffic. She further mentioned they also fear if they hit the sand, their bicycle wheels might slip out from under them and possibly land underneath a truck or vehicle.

She mentioned even though this is the first time the club has taken part in such an initiative, they believe they would do it again. Where it will be, all depends on the road that poses a threat to them.

“This initiative is important for us RandMarkers and all the other cyclists that drive through Randfontein for exercise. Two other clubs from Lenasia and Krugersdorp also take that route regularly,” said Trudie.

“We feel we can’t wait for the municipality to one day fix the town, we have to start doing it ourselves.”
