Westonaria water meter installation to conclude soon

Rand West City Local Municipality's prepaid water meter installation programme is nearing its end.

The Rand West City Local Municipality has confirmed that the installation of prepaid water meters in Westonaria will be completed by the end of this month.

According to municipal spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, the municipality initiated the project in response to the high demand for water meter installation by residents.

“As the installation nears completion, we encourage all community members who have not yet received their prepaid water meters to come forward as soon as possible. This is the final opportunity to have a meter installed under this programme,” Montshiwa claimed.

Furthermore, Montshiwa has requested that all residents who declined the installation of prepaid water meters sign the rejection form. He added that the municipality needs to attain accurate records of the rejections.

Montshiwa emphasised that the municipality aimed to cover all of Westonaria.

“Despite the contractor’s efforts to reach out to all community members, there has been significant resistance to the installation of these meters. Signing the rejection form will help us keep an accurate record of your decision,” he said.
