Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa said technicians have been dispatched to the substation to try and fix the problem.
The 10MVA Eskom transformer tripped due to forces out of our control.
“We were running on one transformer and we informed Eskom of the situation but community members held them hostage at their depot. They did, however, manage to access the transformer and were busy testing it. However the downtime is still unknown,” said Montshiwa.
He said they apologise for the inconvenience that this has caused for residents.
