“As a result, the substation is currently unable to provide power to the surrounding area. The municipality supplies electricity to approximately 20 000 customers with only one main power breaker.”

He added that the substation is an essential part of the local power grid, and the outage has caused a cascading effect of power outages in the surrounding area.

“This has significantly impacted the local energy supply and the municipality is currently working to find a solution to restore power to the affected areas. While a service provider has been appointed to replace the damaged breaker at the substation, internal load reduction will be carried out until this breaker is replaced.”

Phillip added that they request residents to switch off unnecessary appliances after load-shedding.

“The municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused.”
