Man wanted for questioning in rape case

The community asked to be on the lookout for a man wanted for questioning in a recent rape.

Police are asking for the community’s help in locating a man wanted for questioning regarding a recent rape incident.

Police issued a statement explaining that two months ago, a community member was assaulted and repeatedly raped.

According to West Rand District Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya, the victim exited a taxi at the N12 crossing after visiting a relative. An unknown man wearing a black security uniform with sneakers exited the taxi.

The man then approached the victim and assured her they were going in the same direction.

Sibiya continued that while the victim was on the phone the suspect followed her closely before grabbing her by the neck. He then forced her into the nearby bushes where he assaulted and repeatedly raped her. The man also threatened to stab the victim if she failed to cooperate.

Sibiya described the wanted man as light in complexion, speaking isiZulu, slenderly built with a clean-shaven head and wearing a gold wristwatch on his left hand.

“Anyone who can recognise the man in the picture must call the investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Montwedi on 074 669 1581 or Crime Stop Line 08600 10111. Alternatively, members can send tip-offs via our SMS 32211 and choose to remain anonymous.”
