Newborn baby’s body found in rubbish bag

Police are searching for the mother who dumped her newborn baby's body in a garbage bag and box in Randgate.

The body of a newborn baby was found last week stuffed in a garbage bag.

On May 17, a resident made the horrific discovery and went to the Randfontein Police Station to deliver a box with the newborn baby inside the garbage bag.

West Rand District Police spokesperson Captain Solomon Sibiya added the resident found the box while searching for bottles.

He stated the box was found on the corner of Sauer and Union Street in Randgate.

As of now, Sibiya confirmed that they are unsure about the baby’s race and sex.

Sibiya and the police appeal to anyone who might have information about a woman who was recently pregnant and currently does not have a baby. It is advised to call the nearest police station or call crime stop on 08600 10111.
