Sibanye-Stillwater brutal murder accused bails out

Sibanye-Stillwater employee accused of murdering his colleague abandons bail in the Westonaria Magistrate's Court.

Boinehelo Lefefa, the 43-year-old Sibanye-Stillwater employee accused of brutally killing his colleague has abandoned his bail application.

Lefefa made his third appearance in the Westonaria Magistrate’s Court today (November 23).

Police officers escorted Lefefa to his dock where he stood silently and avoided eye contact with the magistrate.

Lefefa’s legal representative then requested to speak to Lefefa before delivering comment. Afterward, the legal representative stated that Lefefa wanted to abandon bail.

The magistrate accepted the request and confirmed the date of the next court appearance which is January 30, 2024.

Lefefa faces a charge of premeditated murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of his colleague that occurred on November 9.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson for Gauteng, Phindi Mjonondwane, the horrific incident happened in front of onlookers at the Leseding Hostel.

She said the accused stabbed the deceased several times, cut open his stomach, and tried to cut off his head. The accused then proceeded to take his cellphone, took photos, and made videos posing with the deceased.
