Accused in Sibanye-Stillwater brutal murder makes second court appearance

The man accused of murdering his colleague appeared in court again.

Boinehelo Lefefa, the 43-year-old Sibanye-Stillwater employee accused of brutally killing his colleague, made his second appearance in the Westonaria Magistrate’s Court on November 20.

Lefefa was called to stand in front of the magistrate, making little to no eye contact with onlookers who witnessed his second court appearance. His legal representative stated that Lefefa had no previous convictions, no pending cases and no outstanding warrants of arrest.

The case has been postponed to November 23 where it is expected that Lefefa will seek further legal counsel ahead of his bail application.

Lefafa faces a charge of premeditated murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of his colleague that occurred on November 9.

National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson for Gauteng Phindi Mjonondwane said the horrific incident happened in front of onlookers at the Leseding Hostel.

“The accused stabbed the deceased several times, cut open his stomach, and tried to cut off his head. The accused proceeded to take his cellphone and took photos and made videos posing with the deceased. The accused committed this heinous crime in broad daylight and the pictures and videos were circulated on social media,” Mjonondwane stated.

The spokesperson for Sibanye-Stillwater, James Wellstead confirmed that the deceased and the perpetrator were involved in past hostile disputes.
