Residents tied up, vehicle stolen in Finsbury house robbery

Mapogo A Mathamaga warns the public of a recent house robbery where residents were tied up, and numerous items as well as a car were stolen in Finsbury.

Residents were tied up and a vehicle stolen during a house robbery in Cederberg Street, Finsbury over the weekend.

Mapogo A Mathamaga’s operations manager Danie Vermeulen confirmed the incident occurred on November 12 and said perpetrators gained entrance to the residential property by jumping over a perimeter wall.

“The perpetrators entered the house through a door that was not locked. They were armed and continued to tie up an unknown number of residents and then proceeded to steal a Toyota Tazz. They also stole a flat-screen TV and several jewellery items,” said Vermeulen, who added that the vehicle was later recovered by a tracking company.

Meanwhile, the security company also responded to an attempted break-in at a business in 1st Street, Randfontein CBD on November 10.

“Perpetrators attempted to gain entry to the business property by forcing open a gate but they did not succeed.”
