Another four incidents reported as break-ins continue

Four break-ins were reported in Rand West City this past week.

Officers from the local security company, Mapogo A Mathamaga, had their hands full this past week and dealt with numerous incidents of break-ins and theft across Rand West City.

This was evident in their latest crime statistics which show that they responded to at least four break-ins – two at businesses and another two at a place of residence.

The first incident of business break-in and theft occurred in Main Road, Randfontein CBD on October 10 where perpetrators gained entrance onto business premises by cutting the razor wire and jumping over the perimeter wall.

The security company’s operations manager Danie Vermeulen said the perpetrators then proceeded to cut the burglar bars and break a window in the storeroom.

“The perpetrators broke one of the windows and that’s how they managed to enter the building. They then stole various electrical cables and copper pipes before fleeing the scene,” Vermeulen said.

He added that in a separate incident in 2nd Road, Aureus on October 11, they again responded to a business break-in and theft.

It is understood that the perpetrators gained entrance by cutting the razor wire fence on the roof and went on to steal two spray guns before fleeing the scene.

Meanwhile, the security company responded to an incident of housebreaking and theft in Woltemade Street, Culemborg Park on October 11.

According to Vermeulen, “The perpetrators gained entry by jumping over the front perimeter wall. They broke a window and gained access to the house. They then went on to steal various electrical cables, water taps, one stove and one gate motor.”

He added that they dealt with another incident of housebreaking and theft in Lourie Street, Greenhills on October 13.

During this time, it is believed that perpetrators gained entry by forcing open the main gate and garage door and they went on to steal various electrical cables, water taps and other items.
