Shop targeted, owner held at gunpoint in Wilbotsdal

Mapogo A Mathamaga Security revealed several serious crime incidents for the period from June 5 to 11 in Rand West City.

A shop was targeted and the owner held at gunpoint during an armed robbery in Wilbotsdal over the weekend.

Operations manager of Mapogo A Mathamaga Security, Danie Vermeulen explained the incident took place at 13:39 on June 10.

Three robbers entered the shop and held the owner at gunpoint. They took 75 cartons of cigarettes and fled the scene,” stated Vermeulen.

It was one of seven serious incidents reported to Mapogo in Rand West City for the period from June 5 to 11.

1. Wednesday, June 7 at 06:51 – Business burglary in Harrod Road, Aureus

Thieves gained entry into the building by forcing open the burglar bars and aluminum sliding window leading into the building. They went on to steal an unknown amount of drilling machines, batteries and keys to several trucks.

2. Thursday, June 8 at 22:41 – Trespassing and theft in Sugarbird Street, Eike Park

Thieves jumped over the main gate and stole an outside alarm beam, they fled when the alarm sounded.

3. Friday, June 9 at 03:19 – Trespassing and theft in Palm Street, Greenhills

Thieves jumped over the main gate and stole an outside alarm beam, they fled when the alarm sounded.

4. Friday, June 9 at 12:45 – Burglary in van Deventer Street, Randgate

Thieves lifted the main gate off of the rails, then forced open the front security and wooden door where they stole one TV, one laptop and one barber kit.

5. Saturday, June 10 at 06:18 – Burglary in Beatrice Road, Homelake

Thieves gained entry by jumping over the rear perimeter wall. They forced open the garage door and stole one arc welder, one Co2 welder, one large grinder, two small grinders and two impact drills.

6. Saturday, June 10 at 07:11 – Attempted theft, Mercedes Road, Aureus

Two perps sold scrap metal to a business but upon exiting the premises, the suspects stole some scrap metal and attempted to flee the scene. The client activated the panic button and upon Mapogo’s arrival, the two suspects were chased and arrested.
