Westonaria police need information from person of interest

The Westonaria police are looking for the man in the image to help them with information regarding a shooting.

Westonaria – Westonaria Police have issued a notice and are requesting help from the community in locating a person of interest – in connection with a shooting incident.

This comes after two people were shot and injured during an incident on Briggs Street in Westonaria on April 15 at around 14:00.

Police spokesperson Audrey Sefara said they believe this person can assist them in their investigations.

“Westonaria SAPS members received a complaint of a shooting incident at Tivoli Pub in Briggs Street Westonaria.

“Upon arrival, they found two victims aged 34 and 62 years old who were shot, and emergency personnel was already on the scene.

“According to information received, it is alleged that the 34-year-old victim was involved in a fight in a public toilet at a taxi rank near the pub in question.

“It is understood that he left the vicinity shortly after the fight and this is when he was followed by the suspect who proceeded to shoot him and a bystander nearby,” said Sefara who added that the suspect then fled on foot and both victims were later taken to hospital.

Meanwhile – Westonaria acting Station Commander Lieutenant Joyce Tuuba condemned the brutal behaviour.
