CIT robbers strike again, this time on the R559

The heist is said to have occurred on the R559 which is a national road between Randfontein and Protea Glen.

Police launched a manhunt for an unknown number of suspects following a cash-in-transit heist on the R559 towards Randfontein in Protea Glen on Wednesday, March 1.

Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

“A VBS cash van was making its way to Soweto when it collided with a vehicle belonging to a group of suspects. Three security guards were injured on impact and ordered out of the vehicle.

“The suspects then bombed the cash van and managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of money,” said Mathe who added that police mobilised all resources to apprehend those behind this attack.

They are appealing to the public for their assistance in apprehending these suspects. Members of the public are encouraged to call 0860010111.
